MED A3

Marine Emergency Duties A3  Basic Safety is a one day (8 hour) course for crew (not operators) on vessels up to 150 gross tons operating not more than 25 nautical miles off shore and passenger vessels (not including ferries) on Sheltered and Near Coastal Class 2 Waters.
This  is a mandatory Transport Canada course required by any crew on a Commercial (Non-Pleasure) Vessel.

SVOP

Small Non-Pleasure Vessel Operator Proficiency Training is a 3 day (26 hour) to meet the needs of small vessel masters and crew operating vessels of not more 5 gross tons for passenger vessels, 10 gross tons for regular work vessels and 15 gross ton for fishing vessels operating up to 25 miles offshore in Sheltered and Near Coastal Class 2 Waters. MED A3 prerequisite is required.

Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate

This Course is the standard Canadian Coast Guard approved certification required by anyone who operates a Pleasure Craft.

ITE has partnered with Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons to Provide this Course

ITE tailors the course for your particular group (i.e. school groups, canoe clubs, boat racing associations, commercial operators)

Who needs this course?

  •           Pleasure Craft Operators of Power Vessels
  •           Effective April 1st 1999 Operators Born after March 31st 1983
  •           Effective Sept 15th 2002 Operators Of Vessels Under 4 meters (13.2 Feet) in length
  • Effective April 1st 2009 all Operators Of Power Vessels

    Also----Operators and crew of commercial vessels under 8 meters, with 6 or fewer passengers, operating not more than 2 nautical miles from shore "Sheltered Waters"  (Usually combined with a MED A3 certificate)

    Pleasure Craft - A watercraft that is used exclusively for pleasure, recreation or sport and does not carry commercial goods or commercial passengers for hire.

    Non Pleasure Craft (Commercial) vessel used for non-pleasure purposes, including commercial fishing, transporting paying passengers, emergency response vessels. If you use a vessel in the course of your work it must be licensed and equipped as a Non Pleasure Craft and the operator & crew need specific training & certification.

    Hands On Courses

    I T E provides hands on courses for occupational groups.

    We can provide "Hands-On" modules in conjunction with the mandatory Transport Canada & (DFO) Coast Guard Certified Classroom & Practical Courses.

    ITE will train & certify your staff at your work location, dealing with your specific equipment & safety needs (after safety inspection)

    ITE has hands-on modules designed for Search & Rescue, Spill Response, Enforcement, Biological Survey, Water Structure Inspection, Emergency Response, Recreational Professionals, Commercial Fisherman, and Guides & Outfitters.

    ITE  specializes in Jet boat operator training as well as regular prop vessels.
